Gwinnett County police are searching for a suspect who allegedly stole a woman’s credit card while she ate at a cafe near the Mall of Georgia.

The victim was dining at La Madeline at 1795 Mall of Georgia Blvd. on April 28 when the suspect sat behind her, police said. The suspect took the victim’s wallet out of the victim’s purse and put it in her own, according to police. The suspect left shortly after.

The victim’s credit cards were used soon after at a gas station on Hamilton Mill Parkway. The suspect also tried to purchase multiple $100 gift cards at a CVS on Hamilton Mill Road, but was unsuccessful.

The woman was described by police as a black woman in her early 40s. She was wearing a T-shirt that said “Grind & Shine” and jeans at the time of the theft, according to surveillance footage.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Gwinnett County detectives at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477. Crime Stoppers tips may be rewarded with up to $2,000 if they lead to an arrest or indictment.
