Hall County deputies are looking for a woman who allegedly shot another woman during a Thursday morning robbery at a pottery store north of Gainesville.

The 59-year-old victim, an employee of Wayne Wilson Pottery on Cornelia Highway near Lula, had just pulled into the parking lot of the store when she was shot about 9 a.m., Hall sheriff’s Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Wilson said that before the victim could get out of her car, she was confronted by an armed woman who demanded her purse.

“She was immediately shot one time in the head and neck area,” Wilbanks said. “She sustained a wound that initially appears to be non-life threatening.”

After being shot, the victim got out of her car and ran into the building to get help. She was airlifted to a local hospital.

Wilbanks described the suspect as a white woman with brown hair, wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap.

The suspect fled the scene in a red sport utility vehicle “with some sort of roof rack,” according to Wilbanks.

“We don’t know if she was accompanied by anyone else,” he said. “She was the only one that the victim saw.”

Lula is about 65 miles northeast of Atlanta.
