The suspect in an armed robbery at a popular pizza restaurant near Georgia Tech made off with almost $800 and tried to put two people in a freezer, according to an Atlanta police report.

Police also released surveillance footage Wednesday of the man, hoping for any tips that would lead to an arrest in the robbery at Rocky Mountain Pizza Company on Hemphill Avenue.

The popular pizza joint was robbed at gunpoint less than two hours before it was supposed to open Feb. 17, AJC.com previously reported.

According to the report, the suspect was let inside the restaurant by a Cintas employee, who assumed the man worked there. When the Cintas employee went to ask a restaurant employee to turn on the light so he could clean the bathroom, he noticed a worried look on her face, police said.

The Cintas employee told police he believed the suspect gave her bad news.

“That is when the (suspect) turned around and showed him a black handgun,” according to the report.

The restaurant employee said the suspect demanded money and that she gave him $779 that belonged to the restaurant, according to the report.

The suspect also demanded that the employee open the safe, but she refused, according to the report. At that point, he attempted to make her and the Cintas employee get in the freezer.

When the employee said they would die if they stayed in there for more than 30 minutes, the suspect forced them inside the bathroom and locked them inside, police said.

Authorities said the man made off with the Cintas employee’s van keys and cellphone.

No other details were released.
