Cops: Man hit by car while crossing busy Cobb County road

A Marietta pedestrian is fighting for his life after he was hit by a car while trying to cross a busy road Friday in Cobb County.

Jerry Grant, 59, suffered life-threatening injuries in the collision reported at 9:38 p.m. on South Cobb Drive at Waldrep Circle in Marietta.

According to Cobb County police, a maroon 2002 Toyota Sienna taxi cab was traveling southbound on South Cobb Drive and was approaching Waldrep Circle when a pedestrian, identified as Grant, stepped into the path of the Toyota.

Police say Grant crossing South Cobb Drive when he was hit by the car, which was traveling in the right line at the time of the collision. The 55-year-old male driver of the Toyota stopped and remained at the scene of the collision. He was not injured. Grant was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital for treatment.

Cobb police say the accident is under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call the department at 770-499-3987.
