A Cobb County woman claimed she was selling a large-screen television. When two potential buyers showed up, the woman robbed them both at gunpoint, according to police.
But it wasn’t hard for officers to find their suspect. Kayla Sells, 20, used her own cellphone, her arrest warrant states.
In the first incident, Sells used Craigslist to advertise the TV and told a buyer to meet her at the Whisperwood Apartments in Austell at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, police said. When the man arrived, he was approached by Sells, who was holding a gun and demanding cash.
“The victim complied and turned over $250 in cash,” the warrant says.
About four hours later, Sells told a buyer to meet her at a different Austell complex, according to police. This time, she had used the OfferUP mobile app to list the TV. When the second buyer arrived, Sells again pointed a gun and demanded his wallet, this time getting $700 and a wallet containing a bank card and driver’s license.
Both victims provided police with the phone number of the suspect, and investigators used the phone to locate Sells at her Six Flags Drive apartment.
A search of her apartment turned up cash, a Glock semi-automatic handgun and clothes matching the clothing the victims said she was wearing.
Sells was arrested and charged with two counts of armed robbery. She was booked into the Cobb jail, where she was being held without bond late Tuesday.
