Smyrna police have arrested four of eight suspects accused of breaking into cars off Oakdale Road early Sunday morning.

John Harris, 17, and Frederick Woodruff, who turned 18 Wednesday, were arrested with two juveniles, police announced Thursday.

At 4:52 a.m., the “patrol division was conducting concentrated and directed patrols along Oakdale Road in response to the increased vehicle break-ins in the area,” according to a release.

After police spotted seven males and one female breaking into cars, the suspects fled in two vehicles: a black Infiniti and a silver Lexus.

Patrol units stopped pursuing the Infiniti and followed the Lexus, which damaged a mailbox and yard while driving “erratically and recklessly,” for several miles. The car crashed on South Cobb Drive near U.S. 41, where Cobb County Police and the Marietta Police Department assisted in arresting the four suspects in the car.

Anyone with information on the suspects in the black Infiniti was asked to call the Smyrna Police Department at 770-434-6666 or crime stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
