A utility contractor will be in Roswell checking city water lines for leaks through early February, officials announced.

The Roswell Water Utility Division is working with Matchpoint, contracted by the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority, to survey about 45 miles of the water system. Several tests will be performed, using listening devices to locate potential leaks in hydrants, meters and sample/flush stations.

“If leaks are found, the city will be notified immediately in order to effectively repair when necessary,” officials said. “In some cases, water customers may experience a disruption in service for no more than a few minutes.”

The effort is funded by GEFA’s Water Loss Technical Assistance program.
