Road construction was in full swing this weekend, wrapping up earlier than expected thanks to cooperative weather.

Several areas were prime trouble spots.

Up to three lanes of the Downtown Connector in each direction were closed near I-20.

In DeKalb County, the right lane of I-20 eastbound between Columbia Drive and Panola Road was shut down.

In that same general area, the ramps from I-285 north and southbound to I-20 eastbound were blocked.

The usual roadwork on the top-end Perimeter had a right lane in each direction shut down between Paces Ferry and Ashford Dunwoody roads. The ramp from I-285 eastbound to Ga. 400 north and southbound was also closed.

Channel 2 Action News meteorologists put the chance of rain at 30 percent Sunday with highs in the mid-80s.

A GDOT supervisor told Channel 2 Action News that the lack of rain this weekend helped crews finish their work faster than anticipated. Only work on the Buford Spring Connector remains, and that should be done by 5 a.m. Monday.

If there was a bright spot in the dark cloud of traffic-clogging roadwork, it was that the Atlanta Braves were out of town, so there were no pregame and postgame jams on the interstates and surface streets surrounding Turner Field.
