Construction is expected to start this month on a $1 million no-kill cat shelter in east Cobb. The Good Mews shelter has raised $789,000 toward its goal to relocate to 3805 Robinson Road, Marietta. The 5,600-square-foot facility, which is more than twice the space of the current shelter on Johnson Ferry Road, will have large areas for cats to roam and room for expanded medical care. The nonprofit has placed about 7,500 homeless cats in 26 years. Information: www.goodmews.org.
