Gwinnett will provide $509,228 in SPLOST funds toward the approximately $900,000 needed to replace the Camp Creek Parkway trail’s wooden bridge between Main Street and Lions Club Park.

Construction will soon begin on Lilburn’s Camp Creek Greenway trail.

The city approved a $526,787 contract for Signature Bridge to build the trail, with the contingency that if Signature Bridge defaults on the project, the city manager could award a contract of $719,020 to another site engineer, according to city spokeswoman Nikki Perry.

That was unanimously approved by the Lilburn City Council during its March 12 meeting.

Gwinnett County is contributing $500,000 to the project. That money comes from the 2017 SPLOST fund.

There's no set date for the construction to begin, but it will start "within the next few weeks" between Velva Court and Rockbridge Road, according to the city. Residents are encouraged to follow the project's progress on Facebook.

The council also approved the purchase of PermaTrak bridge components for the project during their March 12 meeting. The expense of $395,658 was unanimously approved.
