David Shores submitted this photo of the Mackinac Bridge in Michigan.”It’s actually Interstate 75 - just a lot farther north on I-75,” he wrote. According to the Mackinac Bridge Authority, at 5 miles long and 552 feet high, the Mackinac Bridge is currently the fifth longest suspension bridge in the world. The bridge opened to traffic on November 1, 1957. It weighs 1,024,500 tons and had its 100 millionth vehicle pass over it on June 25, 1998.
