“I took this in Jerome, Arizona, an old copper mining town. The cemetery looks like the Wild West, and primitive,” wrote Cathi Athaide. “I loved the functional metal pipes that made the cross, that it was leaning, amid overgrown brush and cacti whose spines are reminder to a crown of thorns. The plot had not been cared for, yet a modern rosary was hung on it, with its tinier cross as confirmation to the original one.”
