Gwinnett Board of Commissioners on March 24 delayed a decision for a change to the master plan for a mixed-use development near Sugarloaf Parkway and State Route 316 at Lakes Parkway in Lawrenceville. The project had been approved in 2008 for a high-rise development with upscale offices, retail, a hotel and condominiums, totaling in excess of 1 million square feet.

The developer, CL-RP Sugarloaf Inc., now proposes to alter the plan for a much smaller-scale development of residential garden-style apartments on 13 acres, with a portion of 6 acres fronting Lakes Parkway being developed with a commercial/retail and office space.

A public hearing on the matter will take place at the county commissioners’ meeting April 28.
