Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners approved a contract Tuesday for utility locating services. The $714,574 contract was awarded to High Tech Engineering Inc. to provide 24-hour, 7 day a week utility locating services for the Department of Water Resources. The contract ensures compliance with the Public Service Commission’s enforcement of the Georgia Utility Facility Protection Act. The contractor is responsible for determining and implementing the correct action to respond, and when required, mark utility location requests assigned to the department.
The contractor is also responsible for late fees, damage fees and fines imposed by the Public Service Commission for any mismarked or non-located utilities and is responsible for any repair cost due to errors.
