Cherokee County Commissioner Jim Hubbard reports that he did an informal survey on the question of Sunday alcohol sales, sending the question to about 300 Cherokee County people on an e-mail blast list.

The state legislature passed a law that will allow local county and city governments to hold referendums on whether to allow packages sales on Sunday. Sales by the drink on Sunday in restaurants are already legal.

"About 95 percent of the responses were,  Put it on the ballot," Hubbard said. "A lot of people are not for it, but they think its the right thing to do to put it on the ballot and let voters decide."
