Comedian Katt Williams has been released from jail on a $5,700 bond after he was arrested for punching a Gainesville pool store employee, according to Channel 2 Action News.
Not long before the attack, Williams stopped by a neighboring vape shop, witnesses told Channel 2.
Customer George Smith told Channel 2 Williams came in the store looking “odd” and after he bought about $500 worth of items, Williams told Smith he would head next door to “mess with them,” Smith told Channel 2.
Then, Williams put down $1,500 on the pool store counter and reacted when the clerk tried to move it, according to Channel 2.
Paul Love, 54, the pool supply store salesman, told Channel 2, “It was crazy.”
Love told Channel 2 he recently had brain surgery, too.
Gainesville police officers responded to the assault call around 11:30 a.m. Monday and found Williams outside “lying on the ground with his hands behind his back as though he was ready to go to jail,” Sgt. Kevin Holbrook said.
Williams, who was in the store with two women, punched Love at least once, Holbrook said.
The comedian is set to appear in court in April, according to Channel 2.
