Comcast is extending its coronavirus-related offer of free wi-fi hotspots and no late fees for 60 days for new customers.

Comcast says it is extending its offer of free wi-fi hotspots and no data caps for new customers by another 60 days.

Customers who sign up for new service in May will get the free hot spots and avoid any late fees through June 30 as part of the Philadelphia-based cable giant’s response to the coronavirus.

The company also is offering unlimited data and pledges not to disconnect service during the period.

Comcast, along with other Internet Service Providers, have temporarily eliminated fees and expanded services at no extra cost as Americans have sheltered in place because of COVID-19.

In metro Atlanta, Internet usage has risen between 26% and 32%, the ISP's said. Comcast said its peak demand has increased from around 9 p.m. to about 7 p.m.

“These extended measures will continue to keep Americans safe and ensure that households are equipped for students to learn and stay informed at home as the nation copes with this unprecedented disruption to our daily lives,” Dave Watson, Comcast Cable Chief Executive Officer, said in a statement.

“Our services have never been more important, and we’re doing everything we can to keep people connected to the internet,” he said.
