Ten Georgia college presidents are among the more than 160 college leaders urging national and state lawmakers to pass tighter gun control laws in light of the Connecticut school shooting.
Oglethorpe University President Lawrence Schall started the letter campaign. He and Elizabeth Kiss, president of Agnes Scott College, released the letter Wednesday.
Presidents from Clark Atlanta University and Morehouse and Spelman colleges are among those that signed the letter.
In the letter, college leaders opposed current and proposed state bills that allow guns on college campuses. They also called for increased attention and assistance for mental health issues.
