Construction is underway on College Park’s new police precinct on Godby Road next to the Tracey Wyatt Recreation Complex, according to a press release. After the ground-breaking ceremony in April, four-term Ward III City Councilman Tracey Wyatt said he is now “ready to retire” after launching the precinct, which is next to his namesake recreation center.

The city 10 of square miles, will have its second police station operational by fall 2019. The police headquarters is located in downtown College Park.

Police Chief Keith Meadows said the new police station in the Godby Road and Old National Highway area will help build a positive relationships between police officers and the local residents who help comprise the city’s total population of 15,000.

This marks the second public safety complex to be built along that cooridor within the past year.
