AUGUSTA — Maybe this will end the fight over what to call this city’s new college.

Georgia Regents University Augusta will be the new name for when Georgia Health Sciences and Augusta State universities merge.

The State Board of Regents approved basically the same name in August, except it didn’t include the city.

That omission outraged some students, business leaders and community members and they demanded “Augusta” be restored.

The amended name will used in the school’s official logo and in “all branding materials.”
