The cold is already here, but it will get colder, and snow could be on its way to north Fulton County.

Channel 2 Action News is calling for showers of rain and a wintery mix between 4 and 6 p.m. on Tuesday in north Fulton County. Precipitation is expected to change to snow between 6 and 8 p.m. and will continue through Wednesday morning.

Up to an inch of snow is possible in north Fulton County, according to Channel 2’s meteorologists. Fulton County schools have canceled all after school activities planned for Tuesday.

Drivers on the northside of the metro area should plan to be off the roads by 5 p.m., Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said.

Snow was seen in Catoosa County around 12:30 p.m., according to reports.

A snowy mix should enter the north Georgia mountains by midafternoon on Tuesday, and snow showers could arrive in metro Atlanta by dark, meteorologists said.

Responding to someone on Twitter, Channel 2's Brian Monahan said, "There's not a lot of moisture with (the snow storm) — so it's all light/showery. Not heavy. And yes, a lot of it will break up as it moves into north GA, but still enough for some issues."

The low temperature for Wednesday could be 16 degrees in metro Atlanta, with wind chills making it seem around minus 7 degrees.
