A master plan to transform Cochran Park in Stockbridge into a passive park was proposed by Henry County officials but failed to gain approval by the Board of Commissioners.

The park has been closed since July for safety reasons because of stormwater damage that has resulted in a large sinkhole on the property. The proposed plan would add two pavilions and wooded trails throughout the site, while permanently eliminating the baseball fields that have been at the park for 50 years. A motion to move forward with the master plan as presented did not pass because the vote was 3-3.

Baseball teams formerly located at Cochran Park were moved to Hidden Valley Park in the Fairview area.
