City to hold budget hearings on June 3

Marietta will hold public hearings on the recommended Fiscal Year 2020 budget at noon and 6 p.m. June 3 in the Council Chamber, City Hall, 205 Lawrence St., Marietta.

City staff will present a brief overview of the budget, and citizens may comment and ask questions at that time.

The Marietta City Council will consider the budget for approval at its regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. June 12.

The general fund budget supplies general government services, including police and fire services, parks and recreation programs, code enforcement, planning and development and streets and public works maintenance.

The city’s millage rate, supporting governmental services, is currently 2.788 mills and is expected to remain the same.

Beginning July 1, the city’s overall FY 2020 budget is $331 million, which includes the $61.79 million for the general fund budget.
