A major Cobb County intersection will be closed through Wednesday afternoon due to an issue with a gas line, officials say.

Old 41 Highway is closed from Barrett Parkway to Ridenour Road, according to email alerts from Cobb commissioners JoAnn Birrell and Bob Weatherford.

That intersection holds the Barrett Parkway Shopping Center, including a Publix, and is just down the street from the Kennesaw Cross Shopping Center.

Crews are on their way to fix the broken gas main, which started interrupting traffic about 11 a.m., according to a county traffic map.

The commissioners said the road should be open again at 4 p.m.

Drivers can avoid the area by getting off Old 41 and onto Stilesboro Road Northwest or by using Cobb Parkway North.
