Cobb schools will provide meals to students through month of June

The Cobb County School District will continue its partnership with MUST Ministries to provide students with a five-day supply of breakfasts and lunches at eight locations May 25 to June 26.

The Cobb County School District will continue its partnership with MUST Ministries to provide students with a five-day supply of breakfasts and lunches at eight locations May 25 to June 26.

The Cobb County School District will continue its partnership with MUST Ministries to provide students with a five-day supply of breakfasts and lunches at eight locations  through the month of June.

Students can retrieve meals each Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 25 to June 26 at the following locations:

•Acworth Elementary, 4220 Cantrell Road, Acworth

•Bryant Elementary, 6800 Factory Shoals Road, Mableton

•Compton Elementary, 3450 New Macland Road, Powder Springs

•East Cobb Middle, 825 Terrell Mill Road, Marietta

•Garrett Middle, 5235 Austell-Powder Springs Road, Austell

•Mableton Elementary, 5220 Church Street, Mableton

•Osborne High, 2451 Favor Road, Marietta

•Smyrna Elementary, 1099 Fleming Street, Smyrna

Meals will be provided to anyone who is under 18 and is present for the pickup. The school district said this includes pre-kindergarten students, rising kindergarten students, recent graduates under 18 and students who are new to the school district.

The district has been distributing food to less fortunate  students at its schools since March 18. Cobb school closed its doors March 16 due to the coronavirus pandemic, but implemented digital learning efforts so students can continue their lessons.

Since launching the curbside service, Cobb schools have given out more than 318,000 meals to students, the district said. The school district said it expects to serve about 225,000 meals during the first part of the summer break. The last day of school in Cobb County was May 20.

“Our students need us now more than ever, and we are committed to helping our Cobb students who may be struggling during this time,” said Superintendent Chris Ragsdale. “We have been very thoughtful about supporting our students in a sustainable, financially responsible way. I am so thankful we live in a community with such supportive staff and volunteers who are dedicated to every student in the Cobb County School District.”
