Cobb County School Board members unanimously voted to extend the contract of Superintendent Chris Ragsdale.

The extension was approved at the board’s Feb. 13 meeting for an additional year so that his employment will now end on Feb. 12, 2023. The contract was previously extended in February 2019 to expire in February 2022.

According to the contract, Ragsdale’s annual base salary is $350,000. He also receives a monthly car allowance of $1,200.

Ragsdale is also required to undergo a yearly evaluation, and the Cobb County School Board pays his membership fees for professional and local civic organizations.

Ragsdale said he appreciated the board’s “vote of confidence,” and that he enjoys the working relationship he has with the members.

Ragsdale began his career in the Paulding County School District where he served in leadership roles in the system’s Technology Department.

Before he was named superintendent in Cobb County schools, he served as the district’s chief technology officer and deputy superintendent for operations.

He was tapped to serve as interim superintendent in 2014, and the school board named him to the post on a permanent basis in 2015.

The superintendent has a bachelor’s degree in information systems and master’s degree in educational leadership from Kennesaw State University.
