Cobb County police were busy Saturday responding to three armed robberies involving a restaurant, a jewelry store and a bank.
In each case, the robbers got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, but no one was injured, according to police spokesman Officer Mike Bowman. Police did not say whether they suspected a connection in the holdups.
The first holdup was at a Waffle House on Austell Road in Marietta. Investigators said two black men in their early to mid-20s and wearing blue bandannas covering their faces approached a cashier around 2:28 a.m., one brandishing a semiautomatic handgun. They took cash from a register and a small safe underneath the counter before fleeing. One suspect wore a black hooded sweatshirt, and the other wore dark clothing, Bowman said.
Just before noon, three black men in their late teens to early 20s held up a Diamonds R Forever jewelry store on Wade Green Road in Kennesaw. As the suspects entered the business, they pulled handguns and pointed them at employees, the police spokesman said. Two of the men smashed several displays and stole jewelry while the third suspect took cash from a register.
The three suspects, who were between 5 feet 3 and 5 feet 8, were wearing hats and long-sleeved, button-down shirts, Bowman said.
Shortly after the jewelry store robbery, Cobb police were called to a Best Bank inside a Kroger grocery store on Floyd Road in Mableton. Police said a black woman wearing a green pullover hooded jacket and dark coat produced a demand note and made verbal demands for money. She also indicated she had a handgun, police said.
The bank’s employees handed the woman cash and she left. The woman was described as being 165 to 200 pounds and in her mid-20s.
Bowman said anyone with information on the robberies should call Cobb police at 770-499-3945.
