The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 Tuesday to promote the deputy director of the Community Development Agency to be the director.
With the county for more than 15 years, Dana Johnson is replacing Rob Hosack who retired in August after serving the county for 29 years.
County Manager David Hankerson recommended Johnson “as the best suited candidate to lead this agency.”
Commission Chairman Tim Lee said there had been a nationwide search.
The list was narrowed to four candidates who were interviewed by a panel of assessors.
For the last 10 years with the Community Development Agency, Johnson began as a Planner III before advancing to Planning Division manager until January 2014 when he was promoted to be the agency’s deputy director.
Johnson holds a bachelor’s degree in marine affairs and a master’s degree in city planning.
