The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday to spend $2.6 million for two water main replacements and utility improvements.
John H. Pruett Construction Co. will be paid around $1.2 million for a water main replacement in the Mountain Creek area.
The present main of about 16,000 linear feet of 6-inch transite water main will be replaced with around 12,500 linear feet of 6-inch ductile iron pipe and 3,500 linear feet of 8-inch ductile iron pipe along Shallowford Road from Yorktown Drive to Mountain Laurel Street, along McPherson Road from Shallowford Road to Post Oak Tritt Road and in the Mountain Creek subdivision.
Tippins Contracting Co. will receive $624,000 to replace the water main on Canton Road over Interstate 75 due to age and leaks, removing 550 linear feet of 8-inch cast iron water main and replacing with 8-inch ductile iron water main.
C.W. Matthews Contracting Co. will be paid $757,357 for utility improvements for the Orchard Road Bridge replacement and Atlanta Road Bridge, both over Interstate 285.
