A Cobb County man will spend the rest of his life in prison for shooting and killing the mother of his three children.

Justin Lesean Cox, 41, pleaded guilty Thursday to malice murder in the shooting death of Felicia Miller, 34, the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office said.

Cox told the court the two were arguing Nov. 19, 2017, in a vehicle parked at a home on Pin Oak Court, which is off West Booth Road in Marietta. According to the DA's office, witnesses said Cox told Miller that he was going to kill her before shooting the mother of three children multiple times. The Powder Springs resident fled the scene, but was arrested the next day, the DA's office added.

Miller's mother, Gloria Blalock, told Channel 2 Action News in November 2017 that Cox shot and killed her daughter right in front of her. Channel 2 previously reported that Miller had five children, and Cox was the father of the three youngest kids.

“He stood right there and he looked me dead in my face and unloaded the gun again on her,” Blalock said.

Senior Assistant District Attorney Shepard Orlaw said acts of domestic violence are driven by jealousy, fear and inadequacy. Cox "decided that he would exercise permanent power and control" over Miller by taking her life, the ADA said.
"While his acceptance of responsibility for his actions will never bring Felicia back, Cox's guilty plea affords Felicia's family the opportunity to begin the healing process with a sense of closure," Orlaw added.

Cox was sentenced by Cobb Superior Court Judge A. Gregory Poole to life in prison. Cox has been in custody since Nov. 20, 2017, and will get credit for that time served.
