Dr. Janet Pak Memark has been appointed as the new District Health Director of Cobb & Douglas Public Health, beginning April 2.
She will replace Dr. Jack Kennedy who will retire in May.
Along with the Georgia Department of Public Health, since 1920 CDPH has been dedicated to improving quality of life by tracking and preventing the spread of disease, promoting health and safety, providing quality medical services and ensuring the community is prepared for public health emergencies.
In 2013, Memark joined the WellStar Health System as the medical director of Community Health, overseeing all of the WellStar community health clinics.
She then joined the new WellStar Graduate Medical Education initiative for WellStar Kennestone Regional Medical Center as associate program director for the new Internal Medicine Program.
Memark began her medical career as a general internist with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, caring for America’s veterans in an academic setting that also involved the training of medical students and resident physicians.
She received both her Master of Public Health and Doctor of Medicine degrees from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
Memark is a board-certified physician in Internal Medicine who trained at Loyola University Medical Center outside of Chicago.
A Cobb County resident, she has two school-aged children.
