The Cobb school board Thursday granted 30-day extensions for Turning Point and STEAM Academy to allow the charter applicants to address concerns raised by district reviewers. Cobb Charter Academy's petition was denied. Officials said Turning Point didn't address basics such as how to provide remediation, while STEAM is funded through an excessive fee and loan repayment plan. Two existing Imagine charter schools, Mableton and Smyrna, were granted extensions earlier this month. The board will take up the applications again in September.
