Acworth police want you to know about a scam of someone pretending to be a cop demanding money for an outstanding warrant.

The department posted on Facebook that a resident notified them Wednesday saying they had gotten the call.

The resident said the caller identified themselves as an Acworth police sergeant and “threatened the citizen with arrest” if payment wasn’t made.

“Please know that no real officer will ever call and ask you to pay money to avoid being arrested,” the agency said in the post.

Anyone who has received a call or has questions about the scam can call Acworth cops at 770-974-1232.
