A 129-room, five-story, extended-stay Staybridge Suites hotel will be coming to the Kennesaw area.

The Cobb County Board of Commissioners agreed 5-0 Aug. 21 to allow its construction on nearly 2 acres at 2646 George Busbee Parkway on the east side of George Busbee Parkway, west side of Ring Road and south side of Mall 2 Road.

Represented by Raj Patel, Apsilon Hotels of Atlanta is the applicant for this brand of the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) that also includes Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, InterContinental and Candlewood Suites with more than 5,000 hotels across 100 countries.

Apsilon will demolish the present building that previously housed the Recreation Factory Warehouse business near I-75 and Town Center at Cobb Mall.

The commissioners also agreed to two variances for the special land use permit - reducing the required number of parking spaces from 139 to 121 and reducing the required 2 acres to 1.98 acres.
