An estimated $9,074,932 will be spent by the Cobb County Board of Commissioners for road improvements.

The commissioners approved the following expenditures on March 26:

  • a resurfacing contract with Bartow Paving Co. Inc. for the low bid of $4,264,780 to resurface 58 county-maintained streets in the southern part of the county, totaling 14.64 miles, with estimated completion by Nov. 22. Also included is almost $153,593 for crack sealing/resurfacing of the Cobb County Safety Village which will be funded by the Safety Village Construction Fund budget.
  • a resurfacing contract with C. W. Matthews Contracting Co. Inc. for the low bid of $3,920,596 to resurface 51 county-maintained streets in the northern part of the county, totaling 14.66 miles, with estimated completion by Nov. 22.
  • a consultant services agreement with CALYX Engineers and Consultants for $889,556 for Phase 2 engineering design of roadway improvements on Old 41 Highway. From Kennesaw Avenue to Stilesboro Road within the National Park Service boundaries, these improvements include conversion of existing intersections to roundabouts or the relocation of White Road to align with Kennesaw Avenue. Cost of the first phase was $182,644.
