The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 Tuesday to allow the expansion of St. Benedict’s Episcopal School to add 100 more students.

Now accommodating 280 students, the school is between Atlanta Road and Cooper Lake Road in the Smyrna area and is overseen by St. Benedict’s Episcopal Church, also on Cooper Lake Road near the East-West Connector.

On behalf of the school, attorney John Moore said the school is hoping to purchase “the green house” for the expansion.

The only concerns were expressed by Mary Rose Barnes of the Oakdale Community Association, especially regarding increased traffic.
