After rumors of a clown sighting early Friday afternoon, parents of students at Campbell High School received an email clarifying that the school is not on lockdown.
"We are aware that there is information on social media, and discussion among students, that there have been threats made against Cobb Schools," the letter, signed by principal Jeanne Walker, said. "At this time, we have found no credible evidence that these threats are real or immediate.
The letter, which said "students who pass along erroneous information are assisting in creating a frightened and anxiety filled atmosphere," did not mention clowns.

Many parents were reportedly picking up their kids early from school.
Cobb County School District Director of Communications Donna Lowry told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that if students were leaving, it was for their own reasons.
“School is not out of session," Lowry said. "They have not called it off."
According to an email from Hillgrove High School's principal, that school was on a soft lockdown today as well due to "threats made against Cobb Schools."
The incident comes amid a national trend of people dressing as clowns on social media outlets. In some cases the posts have included threats against schools.
Fulton County Schools have been on high alert this week after reports of threats made on social media warning of potential clown attacks throughout the district, and Atlanta Public Schools investigated clown threats in that district last month.
