A Clayton County school board member has been accused of having inappropriate material downloaded on her district-issued laptop, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Board member Trinia Garrett defended herself when the issue was raised at a meeting Monday night in Jonesboro.

Technicians allegedly found the material while investigating district equipment last year, Channel 2 said. There was no word on the nature of the alleged material.

"I asked for the opportunity for that computer to be inspected by somebody outside of Clayton County," Garrett said.

There will be a public hearing next month.

"I'm going to be ready and I've got all my evidence," Garrett said.

The issue may cause problems for the board.

"It just raises a lot of questions as to what's really going on with the board," Sid Chapman of the Clayton County Education Association told Channel 2. "It seems to be divided."
