Sandy Springs is opening a new anchor to its city center in 2018, a $229 million arts-and-government complex that will solidify its position as a modern city.

City Springs is its name, located along Roswell Road, with an official address on Galambos Way, named for the first mayor and longtime advocate for creating the city in 2005, the late Eva Galambos.

The complex includes a new city hall and a performing arts center, along with shops, apartments and a town green. The brick-and-glass structure will hold city council meetings and the new City Springs Theatre Company, along with other performances. But the complex aspires to do much for the city.

The brickwork and water features near the green echo the Chattahoochee River. The roads have been configured to allow more connectivity. Lawn chairs will invite people to sit, to stay. Some of the 294 apartments and townhouses already have residents.

Sandy Springs City Hall: In May, the city government moved from a low-slung office building off Roswell Road to the new city hall at Johnson Ferry Road and Mount Vernon Highway.

Where is City Springs located? City Springs is west of Roswell Road, between Mount Vernon Highway and Johnson Ferry Road. The complex is about a mile north of I-285.
