For the third time, no vote was taken on the Powder Springs mayor pro tem during a special called out-of-town meeting by Powder Springs Mayor Patricia Vaughn and the city council at 1 p.m. Thursday at Willowbrooke at Tanner, Villa Rica.

The reason is all of the council members were not present, City Clerk Kelly Axt wrote in an email Thursday to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

No other decisions were made and no votes were taken, she added.

During Monday’s city council work session, City Attorney Richard Calhoun said the city charter states all city council members must be present when choosing the mayor pro tem by secret ballot each January.

Councilwoman Rosalyn Neal has served as the mayor pro tem for the past three years, presiding over council meetings should the mayor be absent.
