The city of Atlanta and the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs will recognize Chelko Foundation’s gift of art on Freedom Park PATH between Candler Street and Euclid Ave. on Wednesday.

Since the original placement on Freedom Park, the art piece, One Woman Rising has become an internationally recognized symbol of women’s empowerment. Her inclusion into the city’s art collection is an outward and visible symbol of Atlanta’s commitment to the arts and universal empowerment, according to city officials.

Artists Phil Proctor, Scott Fray and Madelyn Greco led a team to create this lasting tribute to billions of women worldwide calling attention to their efforts to break from the bonds of oppression, discrimination and violence.
