The Fayetteville Police Department is accepting applications for its 2015 Citizens Police Academy. The program uses veteran police officers in classroom training and hands-on experience to give individuals a feel for police work, including firearms training, patrol functions, criminal investigations, crime scene processing and K-9 handling. Classes will be held 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday nights between March 10 and May 19. Applicants must pass a background check and Fayetteville residents will be given priority. A downloadable application, which must be submitted in person by Feb. 15, is available on the Police Department events page at www.fayetteville-ga.gov.
