Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston has unveiled a new mural created with help from patients, their families and hospital staff.

The 80-foot, under-the-sea-themed mural is located inside the hospital’s visitor parking deck, meant to bring joy to patients and their families during their time at CHOA at Egleston, located near Emory University.

The nonprofit organization Paint Love, Inc. collaborated with the hospital on the mural, along with CHOA’s resident artist Margaret Crane. It includes contributions from patients, families, staff and hospital volunteers.

For patients who were not able to leave their rooms, cutouts of animals were brought to them to paint.

Paint Love provides arts programming for young people facing poverty and trauma, the nonprofit said in a statement. It is holding an art auction Oct. 26 at Decatur's Color Wheel Studio to raise money for future projects.
