Four tubers -- two children and two adults -- were rescued from danger on the Chattahoochee River on Wednesday.

Swiftwater rescue crews responded to the area near Abbotts Bridge in Duluth, said Capt. Tommy Rutledge of Gwinnett County Fire & Emergency Services.

The four people were tubing with a larger group and became separated from it, he said.

Swiftwater units from Gwinnett and Forsyth counties and John's Creek were involved in the rescue. Two of the people were able to exit on their own and safely reach the river bank, while the other two were retrieved from the water by the John's Creek unit, he said.

"We're fortunate that this was not more serious than it was," Rutledge said. "We encourage people to use caution on the river and stay together."
