Parents will be able to register first-time kindergarten and first grade students next month in Cherokee County.

The Cherokee County School District has set two times for registration for the 2016-2017 school year: 3:30 to 6 p.m. April 28 and 9 a.m. to noon April 29. Events will be held at district elementary schools.

To be eligible for kindergarten, children must be five years old before Sept. 1. First graders must be six years by that date.

Parents need to bring: the child’s birth certificate, social security card and proof of immunizations plus proof of hearing, vision, dental and nutrition screenings. Parents must have a photo ID and proof of residence.
