The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners has called a public hearing for its first meeting in August on proposed amendments to the county zoning ordinance.

The hearing is to start at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, in Cherokee Hall at the Cherokee County Administration Building, 1130 Bluffs Park, Canton.

The amendments would update the effects of a recorded plat and its impact on development standards; clarify the number of days within which a Zoning Board of Appeals decision can be appealed; and add additional zoning ordinance sections where an administrative variance can be requested, according to a county announcement.
