The Atlanta Braves will work with the Cherokee County School District to develop a reading-at-home program for elementary school students – with incentives such as tickets and promotional items – as part of a partnership agreement approved recently by the Cherokee school board.

The Braves also would work with the district to develop a science of sport program for middle schoolers, let high school students in Career Pathway sports marketing and/or sports medicine courses visit SunTrust Park for a career program and tour, and develop a partnership with high school baseball programs. Team members, representatives and mascots could visit the school to participate in various functions.

The district, in turn, would promote Braves programs, events and student and summer job opportunities; encourage student participation in the All Star Student Achievers academic recognition program and Home Run Readers summer reading program sponsored by the Braves; and encourage the nomination of teachers for the Braves’ All Star Teacher Award program.

The agreement runs through Dec. 14, 2018, and automatically renews for up to five additional years.
