The Cherokee County Board of Education has a new member. Kelly Poole was sworn into office Thursday night, replacing Kyla Cromer, who became school board chair in July.
Poole represents District 1, which includes the BridgeMill and Sixes areas. She’s an accountant and longtime community and PTA volunteer and will serve the remainder of Cromer’s unexpired term through Dec. 31, 2016.
School Superintendent Frank Petruzielo also briefed the board on planning for a new administration building set to be built on 16 acres off of Bluffs Parkway. The district is seeking proposals from general contractors interested in handling the $15 million dollar project. A decision’s expected at the board’s December meeting, with completion tentatively set for August 2017.
