Bleakly Advisory Group has been tapped by Cherokee County complete a market study in response to residents’ concerns about a lack of retailing and services in the southwest part of the county.

The Board of Commissioners approved a $22,500 professional services agreement with Bleakly after a staff report cited the need for a more detailed vision for southwest Cherokee, as identified in the 2018 Comprehensive Plan Update.

According to the real estate and economic development consultant’s proposal, Bleakly will assess existing conditions and trends driving future area development; analyze current real estate supply and demand; and identify a development strategy.

“While much of the strategy will be focused on attracting new quality retail and service businesses, we will incorporate our findings regarding residential and other commercial uses to ensure a well-rounded strategy for the study area so that the results of our work can be incorporated into the final area plan document,” Bleakly said.
