The Cherokee County School District summer enrichment program for rising first through fifth graders will be expanded this year and offered to all students in the county, district officials announced.

The week-long Summer Discovery program previously was offered at specific schools, officials said. This year, it will be held June 3-7 at Hickory Flat and Liberty elementary schools and open to all students, no matter what school they attend.

Two sessions will be offered each day, from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4 p.m. Students can enroll in one or both. Those who attend two sessions a day will have time to eat lunch brought from home; lunch will not be provided at the schools, nor will before- or after-school care be provided.

Parents are responsible for lunch and transportation. Details about course offerings and costs will be shared soon to parents of elementary school students, officials said.
